• Your septic system does not comply with current regulations which do not allow the discharge to flow into an open water course.

The Environment Agency introduced new rules on septic tanks in January 2020 to tackle pollution. You may not know if your system is compliant with these regulations, or you may be experiencing some problems. Either way, Drain Division can help you.

If you have a septic tank that is discharging directly to surface water, such as a river, ditch or stream, then you are failing to comply with the new legislation. You need to urgently replace or upgrade your sewage treatment system if this is the case. Failure to do so could mean that you risk prosecution or a significant fine from the EA.

We can help you to be sure that you are compliant by carrying out a CCTV Survey on your complete septic system. At this point we’ll then be able to advise you on the best solution. If you’re not compliant, we can either upgrade your current septic system by reconfiguiring the pipework and/or rerouting the output. Alternatively, the best option may be to replace your current septic tank with a new up-to-date septic system.
